Colin Firth is nominated for his role as Michael Peterson in The Staircase, but Toni Collette, who plays his wife, Kathleen, is not. And from The Patient, Domhnall Gleeson was recognized for his portrayal of a serial killer, but Steve Carell, who shares practically every scene with Gleeson, was overlooked.”
